On Sunday, July 28th, more than 30 children in need from P.S. 121 gathered at the Queens Place Target store in Elmhurst, Queens for the 2019 Back To School Shopping Spree. Accompanied by volunteers, the children were given $60. to shop for clothes, accessories and school supplies for the new school year.
Before the spree began, Target provided breakfast and coloring books and crayons. After the spree the children had snacks, colored and compared their purchases.
There were smiles on small and large faces – everyone had an amazing time! Thank you to our Brooklyn-Queens Coordinator, Koreen Jervis and all of the volunteers from the Brooklyn-Queens Chapter NYSSEA, as well as volunteers from P.S. 121 and Evelyn Vadi, Principal. Special thanks to Janet Garrett for doing such an awesome job coordinating with the parents to make sure the students could participate.
